Mike Horton
MINUTES of the AGM held 2006 were accepted.
No matters arising
SECRETARY'S REPORT
The meeting was opened by Vivienne as Chairman Joanne was in hospital. Our best
wishes had been sent to the family for Joanne's speedy recovery. Joanne has
enjoyed her year as Chairman and there had been various speakers, particularly
of interest was Dr Daniel Zehnder who spoke about cardio-vascular research to
which the KP A had made a donation. He had also contributed 2 articles to the
Kouner. A Christmas Stall had been held at the Canal Basin, raising £295; 16
members enjoyed a Christmas meal and Grace had again provided an entertaining
evening demonstrating Modroc. Sue Womble raised £35 from a stall at the
Christmas meeting. Our thanks to Dave and Rosemary Burditt for their continuing
input of puzzles to the Kourier and for putting on a Quiz night. It was hoped a
coach trip could be arranged for September.
The Committee were thanked for their support, Kate and Daphne for their
involvement with the Kourier and Grace for running the Website. Only 5 new
members had come forward since the last AGM and our average number at meetings
was 15 - 20. More new members are needed to provide new ideas, articles for the
Kourier and generally take an active part in the KP A.
Dr Fletcher had set up a Patients' Forum to get patient feedback to assist the
medical team and this had been established - meeting 4 times a year.
Since the last AGM the new hospital has been completed and all departments had
moved with a very different renal unit. Communication is difficult as we have no
notice boards yet to inform members of meeting dates and events, but hopefully
this can be resolved.
TREASURER'S REPORT
Chris produced the annual accounts which had proved satisfactory to the
Auditors. There was a very healthy balance. The accounts were approved.
SPEAKER - Dr R Higgiins
Dr Higgins gave an update ofthe renal situation, developments in the renal
department and ongoing research. It was hoped more satellite units could be
built in Coventry as the number of dialysis patients was increasing. A new
consultant - Dr David Bennett-Jones had been appointed to take over the Nuneaton
Clinics. Elizabeth Pallett had retired and a new Modem Matron appointed.
Joanne had intimated she would be willing to serve a further year as Chairman.
Apart from Mike Horton the Committee agreed to stand again.
A buffet followed the meeting.
