The Walsgrave Hospital Kidney Patient's
Association.
WHKPA, originally called The Coventry and Warwickshire Kidney Unit
Appeal Fund, was founded in 1979 by a small group of kidney
patients, initially to raise much needed funds for the Renal Unit
and Ward at Walsgrave Hospital.
The name was changed in 1996 as we became more of a support group in line with
other KPAs and has grown to include over 300 members.
A new superhospital, University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire
NHS Trust, has replaced the Walsgrave Hospital, Coventry as the main
center for dialysis and kidney transplantation in the Warwickshire
and Coventry area.
Renal patients attending George Eliot, Rugby, Stratford, Heathcote, Warwick and Cov &
Warwick hospitals are all part of Walsgrave Hospital KPA.
We are a support group for renal patients and families: pre-dialysis, dialysis
and transplant.
